VFLW Coaching Panel locked in for 2026
22/12/2025
The Sandringham Football Club is pleased to announce our team of assistant coaches who will support our VFLW Senior Coach Jack Frost in 2026.
Shane Hamill will reprise his role and will be joined by incoming coaches Danny Byrne and John Turner. Deanna Jolliffe will support the program as a development coach in 2026, taking a step back from her assistant coach role to focus on her own football and her teaching career.
Shane Hamill
Hamill first joined our VFLW program back in 2019 and will continue to coach the forward line in 2026. Before joining the Zebs (formerly the Southern Saints) he coached Old Melburnians Football Club's inaugural women's team for the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Hamill also supported St Kilda's Next Gen Academy in 2018 before moving into the VFLW role.
Danny Byrne
Byrne joins the Zebs for the first time in 2026 and will coach the midfield. He has many years of experience as a coach, particularly in the female space, spending the last 10 years at the Sandringham Dragons, nine of which were with their girls program. Byrne has also been the Senior Girls Coach at Mentone Grammar for the last four years.
John Turner
Turner is also a new face at the Zebs in 2026 and will coach the back line. He joins us from the Gold Coast SUNS Academy where he has mentored emerging coaches within the club’s development pathways and overseen the transition of players from junior to senior levels. Turner previously held various coaching roles at Ferntree Gully FC over 17 years.
