VFL Match Report: Round 5 vs Box Hill
27/04/2026
In our ANZAC Round and our Blue Ribbon Cup clash against Box Hill Hawks, we were unable to match our opposition across all four quarters, falling short despite strong performances.
We struggled early to find momentum, with Box Hill applying consistent pressure across the contest. However, Jack Ferraro provided a spark inside forward 50, finishing with an impressive four goals for the day and being a reliable target throughout. Support came from Jet Peckett with two goals.
Despite the scoreboard pressure, our midfield worked hard, led by Liam Coghlan, who collected 22 disposals, including 12 kicks, in his first game for the Zebs. Mitchell Kirkwood-Scott (22 disposals) and William Johnson (19 disposals) also found plenty of the ball, helping us to create opportunities.
Around the ground, there were strong defensive and contested efforts, with Andreas Stefanakis laying eight tackles and Blake Watson contributing seven. Blake Hopkins was impressive with five tackles, highlighting the team's pressure.
Daniel Pinter competed strongly with 16 hitouts.
Despite moments of momentum, we were unable to convert our forward entries consistently, with Box Hill capitalising more effectively on their chances.
There were still promising signs, with multiple contributors across the ground and strong individual performances providing a foundation to build on heading into next week when we take on Tasmania at UTAS Stadium in Launceston on Sunday 3rd May.
