VFLW Match Report: Round 6 vs Tasmania

Another tough contest saw the Sandringham Zebras go down by 25 points to the Tasmania Devils at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval.
Looking to gain momentum after falling to Williamstown, we came out ready to make an impact.
The first quarter was a back-and-forth battle with equal inside-50 entries for each side. Sunday Hollingsworth had a large impact around the ball reaching four tackles. Despite keeping scores level for most of the quarter, Tasmania struck first with their first goal with minutes to spare.
Heading into the second term, a spoil on the line from Ali Hynes denied the Devils an early goal. Charlotte Taylor had strong dominance with seven tackles, six disposals and three clearances across the half. The Devils held possession for most of the term while Ava Bibby battled hard in the ruck, recording 20 hit-outs by halftime to give us first use at stoppages.
We lifted our intensity in the third quarter, regaining territory and creating opportunities inside forward 50. Despite repeat forward entries and pressure around the contest, we were unable to convert our chances on the scoreboard as the Devils extended their advantage heading into the final term.
Reaching the final term, we scored our first goal halfway through with a huge spoil from Mackenzie Williams, leading to a down-field chain resulting in a Courtney Aughtie goal. Momentum continued to build with another inside-50 entry from Kera Galaminda Gellar that set up a goal for Sophie Locke.
There were encouraging individual performances despite the result. Georgia Zuchowski on debut had impact across the day, finishing the game with 17 disposals and four tackles.
Although the Devils claimed the points, we showed resilience and determination across all four quarters. We will look to build on the positives from Sunday's performance as we prepare for next week when we head to Box Hill City Oval on Saturday 27th June to take on Box Hill Hawks at 3:35pm.
