Our condolences and thoughts are with the family and friends of Roy Harper, following his recent passing, aged 94.
Roy played 83 games for Sandringham between 1949-1951 and 1956-1957. He won Sandringham's Best & Fairest in 1951 and came second in the JJ Liston Trophy in 1949. Roy was also nominated for Team of the Century at centre half forward. His brother, Bruce Harper, also played for Sandringham and was the Club's leading goal kicker from 1950-1955.
Roy loved his football, playing at Hampton Rovers, Sandringham FC and Footscray, before moving on to coaching at Glenhuntly, Monash University and finally Brighton Grammar Old Boys.
Roy was a much loved husband, partner, father, grandfather and great grandfather.
