Liam Purcell re-signs for 2026

The Sandringham Football Club is pleased to confirm that Liam Purcell has re-signed for the 2026 season.

Purcell joined the Zebras in 2025 from Collingwood’s VFL program and immediately established himself as a trusted and versatile member of the side. Playing nine games in his first season at Sandy, he showcased his ability to perform at both ends of the ground, primarily as a key defender while also spending time forward when needed.

His best performance of the year came in Round 16 against the Sydney Swans, where he gathered 12 disposals and kicked three goals in a standout display of athleticism and versatility.

Purcell also made an impact off the field, earning selection in the Zebs' leadership group in his debut season. His composure, work ethic and ability to guide a young playing group through a challenging year highlight the qualities he brings to the club.

Reflecting on his signing, Purcell said,

"I'm excited to go around again with the boys and be part of the club’s new direction!"

We’re excited to have Purc continue his journey in the yellow, black and blue in 2026.
