Matthew Payne joins the Zebs for 2026

The Sandringham Football Club is pleased to confirm Matthew Payne has signed for the 2026 VFL season.

An exciting small forward with genuine speed, Payne adds energy and scoreboard impact to the Zebs’ forward line.

A former nationally ranked sprinter, he uses his pace to break away from opponents and create scoring opportunities inside 50. At 174cm, Payne is a dangerous crumber who thrives at ground level and rarely goes a game without making an impact on the scoreboard.

Coming through the Western Jets and representing Vic Metro at the Under-17 level, Payne has shown he can perform against strong opposition and bring pressure and creativity to the front half.

He spoke on his signing,

"I'm really excited to play with this highly talented group of boys and get some wins as a standalone club."
