Blake Watson is back!
24/09/2025
The Sandringham Football Club is please to confirm our first re-signing for 2026, with 2025 VFL Captain Blake Watson committing to the Zebras for another season.
A Zebra since 2022, Watson has become the heartbeat of the Club, stepping up to lead a young playing group as Captain in 2025. His leadership both on and off the field is matched by his fearless style of play. He is a bull through the midfield, renowned for his toughness at the contest and willingness to put his body on the line.
Despite an interrupted season through injury, Watson made a strong return in Round 20 with 22 disposals. He ended the season playing seven games, averaging 20.4 disposals and five of those outings resulting in 20+ touches. His resilience and impact saw him once again recognised at the Neil Bencraft Best and Fairest, winning the Greg Lyons Memorial Trophy for the Most Courageous player in back-to-back seasons, alongside his Ed Hattam Memorial Trophy for the Most Determined player in 2024.
Watson is optimistic about the future saying,
"I'm so happy to be back for 2026. There is so much excitement around the club about next year and I can't wait to get into it with everyone!"
With his courage, consistency, and determination, there’s no doubt the Zebras are in safe hands as Blake Watson leads the Club into a new chapter in 2026.
We’re excited to have Watto back in the yellow, black, and blue!
