Grace Hodder signs on for 2026

The Sandringham Football Club is thrilled to announce our first VFLW re-signing, with 2025 Captain, Grace Hodder signing on for 2026.

Joining the Zebras in 2023, Hodder has been instrumental in shaping the club’s VFLW identity, setting high standards and inspiring those around her both on and off the field. In 2025, she led the team to a finals berth in their inaugural season as the Zebras, finishing fourth on the ladder — a remarkable achievement under her leadership.

A dynamic midfielder with sharp decision-making and a relentless work ethic, Hodder’s consistency and competitiveness have made her one of the league’s standout players. She played all 15 games in 2025, averaging 14.6 disposals and a team-high 7.2 tackles per game, including an incredible 18-tackle performance in Round 10 against Darebin. Her best outing came in Round Six, where she recorded 18 disposals, nine tackles, and a goal.

Her impact was recognised at the 2025 Neil Bencraft Best and Fairest, where she won the club’s VFLW Best and Fairest, alongside the Dazzler of the Year award — voted by her teammates for embodying the club’s core values.

Reflecting on her signing, Hodder said,

“I’m extremely excited to be back at Sandy in 2026! The beautiful people and the momentum we built off the back of last year. There is so much more to come. The club has always felt like home.”
