Tucker and Windsor sign on for 2027

Sandringham Football Club is pleased to announce the signings of Clay Tucker and Kai Windsor ahead of the 2027 VFL season.

22-year-old Tucker, a towering ruckman standing at 204cm, spent time on Hawthorn’s AFL list after being selected with pick three in the 2023 Mid-Season Draft following a strong campaign at Talent League level with the Eastern Ranges.

While he didn’t feature for the Hawks at AFL level, Tucker played 23 times for Box Hill at VFL level, with his 12 disposals, 16 hit outs, four marks and four tackles against Richmond in 2024 demonstrating the raw talent he possesses.

Noted for his impressive ability to deliver the ball on a platter with deft tap work, as well as an exceptional work rate, Tucker is also more than adept up forward, with his height and nous making him a constant threat inside 50.

Having recently spent time at local level for South Belgrave in the Eastern Football League, helping the Devils to a Division 1 Premiership in 2025 and earning a promotion to the Premier competition this season, Tucker kicked 42 goals from 36 appearances, including one of the goals of the season against Montrose last year. 

Showcasing breathtaking agility for a big man, Tucker won the ball from the centre bounce, ran to the edge of the centre square and set sail from beyond 50, shrugging off would-be tacklers with ease en route.

A return to the VFL competition is an appealing challenge for Tucker, who added that he is “excited to be joining such a great club and can’t wait to get started.” 

Tucker will be joined at the Zebs by best mate Kai Windsor, also 22, who makes the move Bayside after stints at both Box Hill and Casey Demons.

A highly touted junior, Windsor’s draft-year campaign with Eastern Ranges saw him earn a call up to the Vic Metro squad at the 2022 National Championships, pulling on the Big V three times and booting two goals.

Two games with Box Hill that same year yielded four goals, and while he spent time away from football in 2023, 2024 proved a breakout season for the versatile mid-forward.

Signing with Casey and playing 15 games in his first full VFL season, Windsor won the club’s Steve Harrison Rising Star award in 2024 before pulling on the red and blue in a further five games in 2025. 

At home both on the wing and inside forward 50, his explosive turn of foot and supremely strong endurance hold him in good stead to run and pressure all day on the field, but he also brings plenty to the Zebras off field.

Credited with helping ensure the standards were being met at training and holding the group accountable at Casey, Windsor will bring a strong sense of leadership to Sandringham, having been elevated to the player-voted leadership group in just his second season at the Demons in 2025.

A return to local football alongside Tucker at South Belgrave yielded five nods in the best from 15 games this season, though Windsor is keen to once again prove his worth at VFL level.
