Smith signs with Sandringham for 2026
26/02/2026
The Sandringham Football Club is pleased to confirm that Callum Smith has signed for the 2026 VFL season.
Footy is in his blood as the grandson of Richmond great Kevin Bartlett. Chasing the dream of an AFL career, Smith has chosen Sandringham as the place to continue his development, bringing his strong contested skills, football smarts and natural competitiveness to our program. With a proven track record at both club and representative level, he is ready to take the next step in his journey and make his mark at VFL level.
After representing Vic Metro at the Under 16 Championships in 2023, he switched to the Dandenong Stingrays in the Talent League and earned Vic Country honours at Under 18 level.
A 189cm midfielder, Smith consistently impacted games with his contested ball work, clean hands and smart decision-making at stoppages. Across 12 games for Dandenong, he averaged 22.1 disposals, 4.8 clearances, 4.9 tackles and contributed 10 goals, taking out the club’s Justin Leppitsch Best and Fairest award in the process.
Smith’s physicality and composure under pressure make him a strong addition to any midfield. With continued development in his kicking under pressure and straight-line speed, he has the potential to influence games both inside and outside.
Reflecting on his signing, Smith said,
“I’m super excited to be a part of Sandy and the bright future this club has ahead.”
We’re all excited to see what Callum can do out on the field!
