High-flying Hollingsworth lands at Sandringham
14/04/2026
The Sandringham Football Club is excited to welcome Sunday Hollingsworth for the 2026 VFLW season.
Hollingsworth’s rise in the game has been nothing short of remarkable. Crossing over from an elite trampolining background, where she represented Australia and captained the national team, she has brought a rare athleticism to football that immediately sets her apart. Her aerial strength, balance and spatial awareness have translated seamlessly to the oval, making her a dangerous presence in any contest.
Despite being relatively new to the sport, Hollingsworth quickly made her mark at VAFA level, earning a Rising Star nomination early in her debut season. It was a reflection not just of her natural ability, but of her willingness to learn, compete and impact games in meaningful moments.
Week by week, she demonstrates a capacity to read the play, attack the ball with confidence and apply pressure around the contest - traits that have fast-tracked her development.
Her time with Beaumaris in the VAFA only reinforced that trajectory. Hollingsworth became an influential figure within a strong lineup, producing standout performances and showcasing her versatility across multiple roles. Whether impacting aerial contests, linking up through the midfield or providing drive around the ground, she proved she can be trusted in big moments.
For Sandringham, the signing represents both immediate potential and long-term upside. Hollingsworth’s work rate, coachability, and natural instincts make her an exciting addition as she takes the next step into VFLW football.
Reflecting on her signing, Hollingsworth said,
“I’m so keen to be part of the Sandy Zebs! I have loved meeting the team and all of the coaches. Everyone has been super welcoming and I’m excited for a big year of footy!”
We’re so excited to see what Sunday can produce at the VFLW level in Sandy colours!
