Hanson signs on for 2027

Sandringham Football Club is pleased to announce the signing of Reuben Hanson ahead of the 2027 VFL season.

Hanson, a 195cm key position player who also has the ability to compete in the ruck, joins the Zebras after a two-year stint with Richmond VFL where he played four games.

Debuting and playing three games in 2025, Hanson managed just one game in 2026 after sustaining a season-ending injury at training the following week, though it was a solid 18-disposal, three-tackle hit out against St Kilda in Round 3 this season, with the 21-year-old big man playing a key role in the Tigers’ 33-point win. His elite endurance and leaping jump allow him to damage the opposition from all ends of the field.

Lining up for Mt Eliza in the Mornington Peninsula Football Netball League Division One competition at local level, Hanson managed two games early in the year before injury interrupted his campaign, though he returned with a bang, booting two goals and being named in the best in the Redlegs’ two-point elimination final victory over Frankston YCW.

With plenty of upside, the young gun will bolster Sandringham’s key position stocks next season, and is keen to get to work when pre-season starts at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval in November.
