50th Anniversary of the 1976 VFA Relegation Game
Join us as we reflect on the 1976 VFA Relegation Game against Oakleigh and celebrate where the Sandringham Football Club is today!
This event marks 50 years since the famous game that would see one of the two teams relegated - Sandringham had never in its history been relegated, but the pressure was on as Oakleigh had won the earlier encounter that year.
The pregame speech by Coach Kevin Murray was followed by a famous speech by then President Len Hunter who did not mix his words to the players on what the outcome of this match meant to the club, its members and its supporters.
This game was famous for many reasons - a capacity crowd televised live on Channel 10, numerous incidents during the game, the fence next to the scoreboard collapsing and Sandringham ultimately winning the game.
Includes lunch with drinks at bar prices.
