Mitch Ryan signs on

The Sandringham Football Club is excited to announce that Mitch Ryan has re-signed for the 2026 season!

Joining the Zebras from the GWS GIANTS in 2024, Ryan quickly became a key pillar in Sandringham’s backline before suffering an ACL injury mid-season while playing local football. Demonstrating his resilience, he made his return this year in Round 18 against Casey, showcasing his experience and composure in the backline.

Across his 22 VFL games, 11 of those games with Sandringham, Ryan has consistently proven to be a reliable and steady presence in defence. His best performance for the Zebs came in Round Five, 2024, against the Northern Bullants, collecting 20 disposals and seven marks in a dominant display.

Despite spending much of the 2025 season recovering from injury, Ryan’s leadership never wavered. His inclusion in the Zebras’ leadership group while sidelined spoke volumes about his character, professionalism, and influence within the young playing group.

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to be a Zeb again in 2026. They have showed immense support for me over the last two years, and I cannot wait to run out with this amazing group as we start a new journey as a standalone Sandy Zebs!” said Ryan.
