To our loyal and passionate Sandy Zebras community
I am grateful and very fortunate to have been part of the Sandringham Football Club for almost a year now.
While it has been frustrating at times during season 2021, there is much to be proud of and so much to look forward to in 2022.
Our VFLW team, led magnificently by Head Coach Dale Robinson, enjoyed a hugely successful year progressing to the second week of finals before going down to the Cats at GMHBA by only 7 points. The grit, resilience, determination and effort the coaches, staff, volunteers and players showed was inspiring to all those involved. The environment our VFLW group has created is fast becoming a destination of choice for many other players and coaches. Dale has re-committed to be Head Coach in 2022, as we look to continue to improve and strive for more on field success.
VFL Head Coach Jake Batchelor has also re-committed to his role for season 2022 as his team narrowly missed a top 8 finals position this season. Batch, along with his coaching team and players, played some fantastic footy during the year as we look to push for a finals campaign next year. The commitment and perseverance our men’s program showed was one of exceptional character and this group can achieve great things in season 2022.
We are very fortunate to have a strong relationship and alignment with the St. Kilda Football Club. Led my Simon Lethlean and Danny Sexton, we are set and ready for a big 2022 on field as we prepare for a pre-season campaign commencing in November.
Off the field we are also set up for success with the completion of our management team for season 2022. Josh Vella (Recruitment/Football Manager), Marissa Stathopoulos (Function Manager), Courtney Banks (Operations Manager) and Jenny Mouat (Finance Manager) together provide all the skills and experience needed to achieve our goals on and off the field in 2022. With the support of our Board, led by our President Nick Johnstone, we have an aligned and integrated football club that is all pulling in the same direction.
