To our loyal and passionate Sandringham community,
I would like to formerly introduce myself as the new CEO of the Sandringham Football Club and thank the Board for entrusting me with this opportunity. I look forward to providing leadership for our staff, volunteers and wider community. I have been fortunate enough for over 30 years to have been part of the AFL industry as a player and administrator with the Brisbane Lions FC (Player & Football Manager), Gold Coast Suns FC (GM-Football) and most recently with the AFL (National Talent Manager). Equally as important I have also spent valuable years at the Southport AFC and Broadbeach AFC (QLD 2nd Tier Competitions) as a coach and administrator. Football clubs do not exist without the commitment and loyalty from all of our people across every facet both on and off the football field. My first impressions of the Zebra’s community have been extremely positive as I have been welcomed into an environment that cares and supports each other. I look forward to the year ahead as we take this journey together.
As our local community and the greater city of Melbourne get back on their feet, you can sense the optimism and excitement for what season 2021 might bring. A fresh beginning with a new leader, newly formed VFL/East Coast men’s competition, new VFL Senior Coach in Jake Batchelor and new VFLW Southern Saints Coach Dale Robinson. We can already feel momentum starting to build.
Jake has been a St Kilda Football Club Assistant Coach for the last two years after a successful playing career at the Richmond Football Club. Joining him will be Mark “Wilba” Williams who returns for the first time since guiding the Zebras to the 2004-2006 three-peat as Coach. Wilba will provide experienced mentoring in a High Performance coaching capacity.
We continue to strengthen our partnership with the St Kilda Football Club that sees us continue to co-manage the VFLW Southern Saints. In practical terms, it means the team will be based at Wilson Storage Trevor Barker Beach Oval for training and will play the majority of home games at the venue. The Southern Saints welcome a new Senior Coach for season 2021 in Dale Robinson who takes over from Paddy Hill.
On behalf of the Sandringham Football Club I am excited to launch our membership offering for season 2021. Membership continues to grow as our loyal supporters show sustained support for men’s and women’s teams. Your support is never taken for granted and is always greatly appreciated by the Sandringham Football Club.
Highlights we can all look forward to during the 2021 Season:
The new VFL/East Coast League is the premier 2nd Tier competition in the country - competing in an elite competition showcasing AFL standard talent.
Both the VFL and VFLW programs welcome new coaches and a fantastic injection of new playing talent.
Our onsite caterers continue to impress with their fantastic quality of service - As Simple As That Catering Group have a growing following at their Friday Steak Lunch at Sandy by the Bay. We encourage you to come down and enjoy their amazing menu which will also be available for all club events including President Lunches.
Increased leadership of the Southern Saints Women’s program which will see the Sandringham FC responsible for the commercial management and football operations support of the team.
A commitment from all levels at our football club that we will continually look to improve in all aspects to ensure we provide the very best to all of our valuable and loyal members and supporters.
